Mr. Antell is an associate with the firm. He practices primarily in the areas of construction, employment, and complex civil litigation. Mr. Antell’s practice includes representing contractors, owners, and interested parties as they wade through the inevitable disputes that so often accompany construction projects. Mr. Antell comes to the firm with a wealth of perspective from his experience in the insurance/risk industry having worked in Manhattan at AIG’s international headquarters for several years. That experience has proven invaluable in assisting our clients in litigation and in anticipation of litigation.

Representative Engagements:

  • In the construction context, Mr. Antell has worked on behalf of both contractors and owners. In one matter, Mr. Antell represented a contractor accused of damaging a public utility while conducting excavation work. Through discovery and statutory interpretation, it was determined that the contractor’s liability was questionable. After opposing counsel was made aware of the underlying factual circumstances and statutory defenses, a settlement satisfactory to the client was negotiated.
  • As part of the firm’s employment group, Mr. Antell has helped to achieve extremely positive results for employees of varying levels. In one instance, a lower level former employee of an audio/visual vendor was sued by his former employer for violating a restrictive covenant/non-compete agreement he had previously signed. However, that same employer had failed to pay the former employee federally mandated overtime. Ultimately, the client was able to recover his unpaid overtime compensation and the suit against him was favorably resolved as well.
  • Mr. Antell has also had success representing high level executives in the employment arena. One particular case involved a senior executive being forced to retire against his will. Mr. Antell recognized the client’s combined retirement benefits did not reach the federally required level where retirement could be mandated. Ultimately, the employer had to significantly increase the executive’s retirement compensation in order for its compulsory retirement policy to comport with federal law.
